Options for Requesting Materials

Students, faculty, and staff can place requests for physical items (books, CDs, DVDs, etc.) for pickup at the library, mail delivery or digitization using the Quickfind system.  View our Quick Find guide for help using Quick Find. Requests can be made in Quick Find for items from the Archer, Luther, Campion, and First Nations University Libraries.

To request an item:

  • Find the item you want in Quick Find and go to Request Options (Note: to view request options you must sign into Quick Find first using your U of R username/password).

The default option is pickup at the Archer library.  If you would like mail delivery instead, leave 'Archer Library' as pickup but also enter your mailing address in the bottom field. Please note: We only provide mail delivery for patrons within Canada. 

Pickup Instructions

When you receive your pickup notification, your materials will be held for 7 days, after which time they will be discharged and returned to the library collection. 

Pickup times are:

  • Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday-Sunday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Unavailable on statutory holidays

Picking up your items at the library:

The health and safety of our staff and library users is our highest priority. To make pickup as safe as possible, we have implemented the following measures: 

  • It is mandatory to wear a mask at all times while in the Library and on-campus. Please bring a face mask if you have one.
  • You will be required to show your University of Regina ID Card to staff from a safe distance before being handed your labelled bag of books.
  • It is mandatory to sanitize your hands upon entering the Library and again when exiting the Library. Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the entrance and exit. 
  • Physical distancing will be facilitated by decals on the ground indicating 2 metre spacing between people. 
  • Traffic will be one-way, with a dedicated entrance and a dedicated exit.

Turnaround Time

  • Turnaround time for all requests will depend on the availability of the requested item.
  • Because library staff are working remotely, the turnaround time for digitization may take up to a week for print materials and two weeks for other requests (e.g. DVDs). 
  • For pickup requests and mail delivery, we will process the item within one week. Materials from the federated college libraries may take a day or two longer than other items. Due to potential shipping delays, we cannot provide a delivery estimate for mail requests.

Please note

  • Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot accept student requests to digitize commercial textbooks.  If you are an instructor, please contact your subject librarian and they can assist you with course materials.
  • Please be aware that most commercial textbook publishers do not allow libraries to purchase or license electronic textbooks, so in many cases we cannot provide electronic access to those materials.
