Ares Reserves: How to Submit an Item to Ares Reserves

Add Reserve Items

  1. Click on the Course you wish to add an item to.
  2. Click on the link you created to Ares Reserves; this will open Ares Reserves in a new tab. (See the "Adding Ares Reserves" tab above if you have not yet added the Ares Reserves tool)

  3. Click on Add Reserve Items on the left hand side menu under "Instructor Course Tools".
  4. You will see three icons (Article, Chapter or Book) along the top of the page. Click on the icon for the type of material you wish to add to Ares Reserves.
  5. For each item you add, you will need to complete the required bibliographic information (marked with a red asterisk) and add any other information that will help organize the readings such as instructor tags (e.g. week one).
  6. Click the "Submit Item" button.
  7. If you indicated that you will upload a file, you will be prompted to browse for the file (e.g. on your computer). Select the file and then click the "Submit Item" button to complete the file upload.

  8. Once you are finished submitting items to Ares Reserves, the readings are automatically routed to copyright services staff where they are checked for copyright compliance.



Status of Reserves Requests

Below are two examples of status updates that you will see in Ares Reserves.

  • Awaiting Review by Staff
  • Item Available on Electronic Reserves – Visible to students online.

You can sign up for Email Notifications to be notified when an item becomes available in your course by clicking on the Subscribe Now button, located below the Course Details heading.
